Patient Advocates

A knowledgeable friend, with you every step of the way

When you start a new journey, it helps to have someone who knows the way. Our patient advocates serve as patients’ direct link to New Dimensions. Advocates:

• Work with patients to complete any pre-operative checklists or requirements that the insurance company or the surgeon require before surgery, including lab tests, weight monitoring plans or diet programs.

• Act as a lifeline between the doctor and the patient, keeping the doctor abreast of the patient’s progress as he or she prepares for surgery.

• Serve as a coach (and a cheerleader!), providing answers and support to guide you toward your goals.

Lisa Boyd

“I have really enjoyed working with patients since day one, every one of them has a unique story; and I can’t wait to hear the next one.”

Having begun her healthcare career in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1990, Lisa is the staff member who has the most experience with patient contact and treatment. With stints collecting data at a research clinic, working with children on diets and exercise, and helping to treat patients with kidney disease, Lisa applies a comprehensive effort to understand each patient’s specific needs to achieve the patient’s long-term health goals. An energetic single mom, Lisa divides her non-working life between her daughter and pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Social Work and Nursing.

Lisa spent more than a year as Doctor Pilcher’s medical assistant before moving into the patient advocate role. She works primarily with Doctor Pilcher’s patients.

Annette Ocejo

“I love working with people and seeing them meet their goal for surgery.”

Since 2006, Annette has guided patients through the process of preparing for and recovering from bariatric surgery. Her background as a pharmacy technician and a degree from the San Antonio College of Medical and Dental Assistants gave her a firm foundation in healthcare, and her caring nature helps her provide the compassionate and enthusiastic support patients need. Annette works primarily with patients of Dr. Reiss.

“People come here because of who I work for, and that makes me proud. I have seen people come as far as Alaska to have surgery here with us!”
