Whether you choose a surgical or non-surgical program, we understand that weight loss is a significant financial investment, even for those who have insurance. That’s why we’re in-network for every insurance plan. We are also up front about our pricing, offering some of the most affordable rates in San Antonio. And we’ll continue to review our practice fees and partner with Center of Excellence hospitals to create more options for patients ready to make a change.

Medical Weight Loss Program Costs

Medical Cash Pay
These costs are for patients without insurance, or for those whose plans do not cover medical weight loss programs.

  • New patient office visit (only includes session with Dr. Sabowitz): $150.00
  • Follow up visits (only includes sessions with Dr. Sabowitz): $55.00
  • Labs & EKG: from $7.00 to $60.00
  • DXA body composition test: $100.00 (not billable to insurance)
  • Resting Metabolic Rate Test: $75 (billable to some insurances)

Medical insurance options for non-surgical program
While there are many plans and types of coverage, the following insurance companies generally offer some coverage for non-surgical weight loss:

Most medical testing such as labs and EKG can be billed to insurance, except for the DXA body composition test and some supplements that help with weight loss. New patient and follow up visits are also billed to insurance; the patient pays only their co-payment provided your insurance covers weight loss.

Surgical Weight Loss Program Costs

Surgical Cash Pay Costs

  • Insurance policy for bariatric surgery is gradually improving and now about 80% of our patients have their operation covered through insurance.
  • When there is no insurance coverage for surgery, we have arranged fixed discount rates called “prompt pay” which are available to anyone who submits the entire fee prior to surgery.
  • Prompt Pay Surgeon's Fee: $4,500 for your primary surgeon and for the surgical assistant. Same fee for any surgical option. $250 is due at the first visit, and $4,250 at pre-op visit. This price includes 90 days of follow up visits.
  • Hospital fees vary from location to location and depending on the procedure, any complications and length of stay. Fees generally range from $8,500 to $15,500.
  • Anesthesiologist fees are approximately $700.
  • Lab or x-ray fees are also variable. Most tests that are required are done under insurance to diagnose or treat standard medical conditions.
