It is important for optimal bone, cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and immune health. Adequate calcium and vitamin D throughout life, as part of a well-balanced diet, may reduce the risk of osteoporosis.</p>
<p>Supplementation with vitamin D may be necessary to meet daily needs, since obtaining sufficient vitamin D from natural food sources and sun exposure alone can be difficult. Research shows that vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is approximately 87% more potent than vitamin D2 for raising and maintaining vitamin D blood levels.</p>

<li>1 lb raw shrimp ( 16-21 per pound)&nbsp;</li>
<li>3 medium tomatoes, diced&nbsp;</li>
<li>1/4 cup green olives, pittedthinly sliced&nbsp;</li>
<li>1 limes, cut into wedges&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

<h2>Directions</h2>
<ol>
<li>Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.</li>
<li>Add bay leaf and cook a minute.</li>
<li>Add the onion, jalape&ntilde;os and garlic and cook, stirring, until softened, this takes about 3 minutes.</li>
<li>Stir in shrimp, cover and cook about 3 to 4 minutes. The shrimp should just be turned pink.</li>
<li>Stir in tomatoes and olives.</li>
<li>Simmer, reduce heat to medium-low, replace cover and cook 2 to 3 minutes more, until the tomatoes are almost broken down.</li>
<li>Remove the bay leaf.</li>
<li>Serve with lime wedges.</li>

<div>With all the hype over &beta;-HCG as a treatment for obesity, it&rsquo;s no surprise that patients often request it to aid their weight loss. But the reason that I, a medical doctor, will not prescribe it may come as a surprise &ndash; it&rsquo;s because it simply doesn&rsquo;t work. &nbsp;</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Beta-Human chorionic gonadotropin, or &beta;-HCG as most people know it, is a hormone produced during pregnancy that began being used as a treatment for obesity by Dr. Albert Simeons in 1954. Despite the lack of medical evidence for using &beta;-HCG to treat obesity, clinics using Dr. Simeons diet and prescribing &beta;-HCG continue to be popular all over the United States.&nbsp;</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<p><strong>Quick Results. Long-Term Failure.&nbsp;</strong></p>
<div>The reason for &beta;-HCG&rsquo;s popularity stems from the quick results that patients are promised &#8211; and often do see &#8211; at the beginning of the plan. This is due to the fact that the &beta;-HCG plan is always paired with an extremely low daily caloric intake of about 500 calories with very strict instructions on what can and cannot be eaten. &nbsp;Anyone will lose weight on such a restrictive diet &ndash; regardless of whether or not &beta;-HCG is injected.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>The problem with this method is that such a restrictive diet also results in the loss of significant amounts of muscle mass. Muscle is what burns calories in your body, so if you lose muscle today, you are losing your ability to burn calories tomorrow. That makes it harder and harder to maintain the weight you worked so hard to lose. &nbsp;</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<p><strong>The Surprising Truth</strong></p>
<div>Countless studies have been done that prove over and over that &beta;-HCG has no affect on weight loss. One that I like to reference is a study of 40 patients who were randomized to receive either &beta;-HCG or a placebo. The result was that there was absolutely no difference in hunger, amount of weight lost, or changes in waist, chest, arm or thigh measurements. This study was published in 1977. So, we have known that &beta;-HCG does not work for 35 years. Several additional studies have been done since then with larger test groups and all have produced the same conclusion that &beta;-HCG has no affect on weight loss</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<p><strong>Taking Action</strong></p>
<div>Based on the results of these numerous studies, the American Society of Bariatric Physicians has recommended that &beta;-HCG not be used in the treatment of patients with the chronic disease of obesity. In addition, the FDA has begun to send warning letters to physicians and companies who advertise that &beta;-HCG is effective for weight loss. They have even stated that such claims are fraudulent &#8211; &ldquo;Failure to promptly correct these violations may result in legal action without further notice, including, without limitation, seizure and injunction. Other federal agencies may take this Warning Letter into account when considering the award of contracts&rdquo;. In the fall of 2011 the Attorney General of the State of Texas actually cited several &beta;-HCG providers with false advertising.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<p><strong>The Right Approach</strong></p>
<div>Obesity is a complex chronic disease that cannot be treated with a magic bullet. &nbsp;Effective control of the disease requires long term treatment, by medical experts who understand the disease and the people who suffer from it. 	1 tablespoon butter  <br />
	2 medium tomatoes<br />

<p>Rinse fish fillets in cool water and dry on paper towels.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 2</strong></h4>
<p>Beat the egg in a shallow dish. Use the back of a spoon to paint the entire non-skin side of the fish fillet (the whiter side) with the egg, evenly season with salt and pepper (or Cajun seasoning), then sprinkle with almonds to cover, pressing down lightly to adhere.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 3</strong></h4>
<p>Heat the olive oil in a nonstick pan over medium high heat &#8211; place each fillet almond side down in the pan &#8211; hear the sizzle.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 4</strong></h4>
<p>While the fillets are cooking, pop the broccoli in the microwave, begin cooking as per the directions.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 5</strong></h4>
<p>After 3 minutes of cooking, when almonds are golden brown, carefully turn each fish fillet, to cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, until done.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 6</strong></h4>
<p>Slice the tomatoes. Remove the vegetables from the microwave &#8211; pour into a bowl &#8211; add a pat of butter, a sprinkle of salt, and mix.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 7</strong></h4>
<p>Place a fish fillet on a plate, add a scoop of vegetables and two slices of tomato</p>

<p>1 1/2 cup diced red peppers (1 large)<br />
	1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil <br />
	1 cup frozen corn, thawed<br />
	1 cup diced onion<br />
	2 cloves garlic, minced<br />
	2 tablespoons flour<br />
	Two 14.5 ounce cans reduced-sodium chicken broth <br />
	1/2 teaspoon salt<br />
	 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper<br />
	 1/4 teaspoon tarragon<br />
	1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper<br />
	 1/2 teaspoon parsley <br />
	1/2 teaspoon oregano<br />
	Dash freshly grated nutmeg<br />
	Pinch red pepper flakes <br />
	1/2 cup fat-free half &amp; half or evaporated milk<br />
	3/4 -1 pound halibut, tilapia or other firm white fish, cut into bite-sized pieces</p>

<h3>Preparation</h3>
<h4><strong>Step 1</strong></h4>
<p>Preheat oven to 450 degrees.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 2</strong></h4>
<p>Line a baking sheet with foil and place diced red peppers on foil. Drizzle with 1/2 teaspoon of the olive oil and toss to coat. Roast for 10 minutes. Stir and add corn. Roast for 10 minutes more. Remove from oven and set aside.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 3</strong></h4>
<p>In a large saucepan add the remaining olive oil and cook onions and garlic over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until just starting to turn golden. Add peppers and corn mixture. Add flour and stir in until well combined.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 4</strong></h4>
<p>Add chicken broth, salt, black pepper, tarragon, lemon pepper, parsley, oregano, nutmeg, red pepper flakes, and half &amp; half. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.</p>
<h4><strong>Step 5</strong></h4>
<p>Add fish and simmer for 5 minutes longer or until fish flakes easily with a fork.</p>
