New Dimensions offers a variety of surgical procedures, in order to best meet each individual patient’s needs. We believe that our patients ought to have a significant role in choosing which procedure “fits” them the best, because we believe you will have the best success with your surgical pouch “tool” if you have a positive sense of conviction about your new surgical anatomy. The procedures we perform most commonly at this time are the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, placement of the Realize™ Adjustable Gastric Band, and the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. Please visit our Comparison Adjustable Gastric Banding/Bypass page to compare procedures. All of these procedures are done laparoscopically; we use this minimally invasive approach as well as synergistic pain control techniques and early post-op mobilization to get you back on your feet soon after surgery.
Our experience in bariatric surgery goes back to the early 80’s, giving us a long-term perspective that helps us apply surgery in a way that gives you the best chance to achieve lifetime health improvement through weight loss. Our experience also means that we are able to revise and correct previous surgical procedures when necessary. Our training and experience as General Surgeons means that we are able to address other surgical issues we might encounter during your bariatric procedure, including such problems as a hiatal hernia or a gallbladder problem.
We are active in surgical research, so that newer “cutting edge” surgical procedures such as gastric pacing are often available for selected clinical situations.
Bariatric surgical procedures are only performed at facilities with dedicated bariatric staff and equipment, such as Methodist Specialty and Transplant, Innova, and TexSan Heart hospital.
